How to Play WARMER

A complete guide to rules, temperature tiers, clue mechanics, and winning strategies.

Objective of the Game

Your goal is to deduce the secret target word in as few guesses as possible. Every word you enter is analyzed by our computational linguistics engine against the secret target word.

You will immediately receive a Rank number and a Thermal Meter reading. The lower the rank number, the closer your guess is conceptually to the secret answer.

The Temperature Spectrum

Tier Rank Range Semantic Relationship
FOUND #1 The secret target word itself. Match won!
SCALDING #2 – #35 Immediate synonym, core attribute, or tightly paired concept.
HOT #36 – #300 Very strong semantic association; directly within the target domain.
WARM #301 – #1,200 Related semantic field (e.g., "water" when the target is "ship").
TEPID #1,201 – #3,500 Vaguely connected through broad context or distant shared category.
COOL #3,501 – #15,000 Distant conceptual domain.
FRIGID > 15,000 Completely unrelated semantic space.

Advanced Strategy Playbook

1. Anchor Words (Triangulation)

Begin by casting broad anchor guesses across distinct fundamental domains: a living thing (e.g. "animal"), a physical substance (e.g. "water"), an emotional state (e.g. "happiness"), or a structure (e.g. "building"). Whichever anchor returns the lowest rank tells you where to focus your conceptual search.

2. Beware of Antonym Proximity

In human language embeddings, opposites (like "hot" and "cold", or "day" and "night") frequently appear in identical contexts. If an antonym scores high, don't dismiss the concept — try testing the opposite end of the spectrum!

3. Explore Parts of Speech

If a noun like "ocean" scores Rank #400, test corresponding verbs ("swim", "sail"), adjectives ("deep", "blue"), and related tangible artifacts ("island", "boat").
