Is WARMER free to play?
Yes! WARMER is 100% free to play for personal entertainment. There are no paywalls, timers, limits, or account requirements.
How is word proximity or similarity calculated?
WARMER uses unsupervised machine learning natural language processing (specifically the GloVe vector model). Words are mapped into a 300-dimensional geometric embedding space based on contextual co-occurrence across billions of words. Cosine similarity calculates the conceptual closeness between words.
When does the Daily Challenge reset?
The Daily Challenge resets globally every day at midnight UTC (00:00 UTC). Every player around the world solves the exact same target puzzle on that day.
What happens if a word isn't recognized?
WARMER recognizes tens of thousands of common English vocabulary words. If you type a typo, gibberish, or an extremely rare proper noun, the input box will gently shake and alert you that the word was not found in the dictionary, allowing you to try again without penalizing your guess count.
Does word capitalization or punctuation matter?
No. All guesses are automatically normalized to lowercase and stripped of unnecessary punctuation. You can type in uppercase, lowercase, or mixed case without distinction.
How do hints work?
If you get stuck, click the lightbulb icon to request a clue:
Stepping Stone: Reveals a landmark word that is closer to the target than your current best.
First Letter: Reveals the secret word's opening letter.
Word Length: Reveals the exact number of characters in the target word.
Can I play with friends in multiplayer?
Yes! Tap "Create Room" on the home menu to open a multiplayer party. Share the 4-letter room code or link, or let nearby friends scan the room QR code with their mobile cameras. You can play cooperatively or competitively in turn-based or chaos modes.
Can I install WARMER on my phone as an app?
Yes. WARMER is a Progressive Web App (PWA). In Safari on iPhone or Chrome on Android, tap "Share" or the menu button and select "Add to Home Screen". WARMER will launch as a standalone, full-screen app on your device.
